Strabag: Construction group Strabag is renovating an 11 km stretch of the Southern Autobahn. In both directions between Wöllersdorf and Wiener Neustadt, particular emphasis is being placed on the use of recycled construction materials and energy-self-sufficient construction site operations. The general renovation of the concrete roadway will involve the application of a new concrete surface covering 310,000 m² and the construction of a 350,000 m² cement-stabilized base course. In the asphalt layer, which serves as a protective layer between the base course and the concrete surface, the construction company is using 40,000 tons of asphalt with a recycled content of 70 percent instead of the usual 20 percent. This year, the work will take place in the direction of Graz, followed by the direction of Vienna. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
