Kapsch TrafficCom: Kapsch TrafficCom has been awarded by the City Council of Avilés, in the Northern Central area of Spain, to renew the management of the traffic control system over the next four years. The contract, which exceeds Euro 1 million in value, includes the implementation of EcoTrafiX™, a system designed to capture, aggregate, archive and monitor various sources of traffic data. “We are focused on diversifying our services and expanding the availability of our solutions”, explains Andrè Laux, COO Kapsch TrafficCom. “This is a great opportunity to demonstrate how the advantages of urban mobility management can be adjusted for municipalities of various sizes.” With the new contract, Kapsch increases its urban mobility management footprint in Spain. EcoTrafiX™ system is already implemented in Madrid, Malaga, Bilbao, Vitoria, Castellón, Donostia, La Coruña, Valladolid, Palencia and Huelva.

Andritz: International technology group Andritz has received an order from Hitachi Zosen Corporation (HITZ), Japan, to deliver a PowerFluid circulating fluidized bed boiler with a flue gas cleaning system. Further, the company reported results for the first quarter. Sales saw favorable development and were 15.4% higher than the previous year’s reference period at Euro 1,489.2 mn (Q1 2018: Euro 1,291.0 mn). With the exception of Hydro, all business areas were able to achieve an increase in sales – in some cases substantially – compared to last year’s reference figures. Net income (without non-controlling interests) declined to Euro 33.6 mn (Q1 2018: 44.0 mn). CEO Wolfgang Leitner commented: “Business development in the first quarter was satisfactory and in line, by and large, with our expectations. As we expect the global automotive market to remain weak in the medium term, in the next few weeks we will extensively evaluate the need to implement possible restructuring measures in the Metals Forming sector. The goal is the sustained adjustment of capacities and cost structures to the difficult market conditions and thus to ensure the competitiveness of our products on the market."

Valneva: Austrian/French biotech company Valneva’s total revenues (on an AER basis) in the first quarter of 2019 were Euro 34.9 mn compared to Euro 32.1 mn in the first quarter of 2018. In the first quarter of 2019, Valneva generated a net profit amounting to Euro 4.9 mn compared to a net profit of Euro 1.5 mn in the first quarter of 2018. CFO David Lawrence commented, “We are very pleased with our excellent first-quarter financial results and the continued growth of our business. Sales growth of IXIARO® exceeded 15% at constant exchange rates. We are also extremely pleased that our two leading clinical programs are advancing and we are looking forward to key milestones within the next few months. We continue to execute on our growth strategy and remain confident in our ability to continue driving both profitable growth as well as value inflection via our key R&D programs.”
