Valneva: Emergent BioSolutions Inc. and Valneva SE announced positive interim results for the Phase 1 study evaluating VLA1601, their vaccine candidate against the Zika virus. The highly purified inactivated vaccine candidate, VLA1601, met the study’s primary endpointshowing a favorable safety profile in all doses and schedules tested. VLA1601 was also immunogenic in all treatment groups and induced both dose- and schedule- dependent neutralizing antibodies against the Zika virus with the kinetics expected for an inactivated, alum-adjuvanted whole-virus vaccine. Wolfgang Bender, chief medical officer of Valneva commented, “The excellent safety profile supports further optimization of the elicited immune response to cover an unmet medical need in the most vulnerable populations.”
Valneva: weekly performance: -6.04%

ams: ams, a leading worldwide supplier of high- performance sensor solutions, and Qualcomm Technologies, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, jointly announced the intent to focus engineering efforts towards a 3D depth sensing camera solution for mobile phone applications like 3D imaging and scanning and, in particular, biometric face authentication. With ams’ advanced VCSEL light sources and optical IR pattern technology incorporating massproduction proven wafer level optics and Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Mobile Platforms, the companies have a goal to create a reference design for a cost-attractive, active 3D stereo camera solution for Android-based mobile phones. Use cases for the platform solution could include front-facing applications that require advanced 3D imaging such as face recognition required for secure online payments as well as other applications like dynamic-depth facial scanning, the companie stated.
AMS: weekly performance: 4.81%

Zumtobel: In the course of its ongoing restructuring programme and in response to growing global competition, the Zumtobel Group has decided to gradually adjust the production volume and the number of employees at the components plant (Tridonic) in Jennersdorf, Austria. The reduction of staff in production will start in March 2019. The research & development facilities in Jennersdorf with roughly 30 jobs will be maintained as the group-wide LED competence centre. All necessary personnel measures will be implemented in the most socially responsible manner possible.
