Lenzing: The Lenzing Group, a world-leading provider of wood-based specialty fibers, has received further scientific proof of the biodegradability of its fibers. In a study published in October 2021 scientists from the prestigious academic research institute Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) at the University of California, San Diego confirmed that wood-based cellulosic fibers biodegrade in the ocean within a short period of time at the end of their life cycle, making them a better alternative to fossil-based fibers. The research was the result of an independent project trying to understand the "end-of-life" scenarios for textiles and nonwovens discarded in the environment.

Frequentis: The annual World Air Traffic Management Congress has recognised the arrival manager (AMAN) system from Frequentis Orthogon in its annual awards, held in Madrid on 26 October. The ceremony relaunched this year as the Maverick Awards and rewarded companies and projects for their work, across the three categories collaboration, innovation, and sustainability. “We are thrilled that the Frequentis Orthogon AMAN system has won the Maverick Sustainability Award. It is well-known that a broad variety of solutions are required to achieve the aviation industry’s sustainability goals and the Frequentis Orthogon AMAN is a significant contributor to greener operations,” says Frank Köhne, Managing Director Frequentis Orthogon. Frequentis, headquartered in Vienna, is a global supplier of communication and information systems for control centres with safety-critical tasks.

Marinomed: Marinomed Biotech AG, an Austrian science-based biotech company with globally marketed therapeutics derived from innovative proprietary technology platforms, announced today that Marinomed and Perrigo Company signed an agreement for the distribution of the virus blocker Carragelose® in Finland, Norway, Sweden and France. Perrigo has launched Carragelose under the trade names Physiomer® in Scandinavia and Phytosun Aroms® in France in September and October 2021. Carragelose products are already available without prescription over the counter (OTC) in more than 40 countries. Carragelose is highly efficient in preventing infection and viral spread of multiple respiratory viruses.
