21st Austria weekly - Erste Group, Amag, EVN (28/02/2019)

03.03.2019

Erste Group: Austrian based CEE banking group Erste Group reported preliminary figures for the financial year 2018. Net interest income increased – mainly in the Czech Republic and in Romania, but also in Austria – to Euro 4,582.0 mn (+5.3%). Net fee and commission income rose to Euro 1,908.4 mn (+3.1%), primarily on the back of significantly higher income from payment services and asset management. Operating income rose to Euro 6,915.6 mn (+3.7%). Overall, the operating result improved to Euro 2,734.6 mn (+8.9%) and the cost/income ratio to 60.5% (62.4%). The NPL ratio based on gross customer loans improved again to 3.2% (4.0%), the NPL coverage ratio to 73.0% (68.8%). The net result attributable to owners of the parent rose to Euro 1,793.4 mn (+36.3%). CEO Andreas Treichl commented: "Given this context, we also want to share the good result with the shareholders and will therefore propose an increased dividend of 1.40 euro per share at our annual general meeting.”
Erste Group: weekly performance: 6.29%

Amag: Amag Austria Metall AG, producer of primary, cast and rolled aluminium, reported that total shipments rose 2018 to a record of 424,600 tonnes (2017: 421,700 tonnes). Higher shipment volumes and the higher average aluminium price contributed to a new record revenue level, which was up by around 6 % to Euro 1,101.6 mn.  Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) in the 2018 financial year amounted to Euro 141.0 million, down by around 14 % on the previous year's Euro 164.5 mn. This was especially due to higher raw material costs, US import tariffs on aluminium, higher ramp-up costs for the site expansion and unfavourable valuation effects as of the year-end. This also led the operating result (EBIT) to reduce from Euro 86.8 mn to Euro 60.6 mn. The Amag Group generated net income after taxes of Euro 44.5 mn in the 2018 financial year (2017: Euro 63.2 mn).
Amag: weekly performance: 0.31%

EVN: Revenue recorded by the EVN Group, a leading, international and publicly listed energy and environmental services company, rose by 0.6% year-on-year to Euro 596.0 mn in the first quarter of 2018/19. According to the company, this development was supported primarily by valuation effects from hedges in the Generation Segment and by an increase in renewable generation and heat sales. EBITDA recorded by the EVN Group declined by 29.5% to Euro 163.2 mn. EVN generated EBIT of Euro 97.4 mn in the first quarter of 2018/19, which represents a decrease of 41.3%. Group net result for the period amounted to Euro 59.1 mn and was 47.3% lower than the first quarter of the previous year. Assuming average conditions in the energy business environment, Group net result for 2018/19 is expected to range from Euro 160 mn to Euro 180 mn. However, Group net result could be significantly influenced by the regulatory background, the legal proceedings currently in progress in Bulgaria and the remaining proceeding related to the Walsum 10 power plant project as well as the progress on activities in Moscow, the company stated.
EVN: weekly performance: -4.66%
