21st Austria weekly - Valneva, Strabag, Novomatic (06/12/2018)

06.12.2018

Valneva: Valneva Sweden AB, the Swedish subsidiary of Austrian/Frenche vaccine developer Valneva SE, and Hookipa Pharma Inc. announced that they have entered into a three-year collaboration and manufacturing agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Valneva Sweden will provide analytical services, develop process scale-up and produce GMP clinical trial material to support the development of new immunotherapies based on Hookipa’s Vaxwave®* and TheraT®* arenavirus vector- technologies. In return, Valneva will receive fixed and success-based service fees. The agreement may be extended beyond three years.
Valneva: weekly performance: -0.89%

Strabag: The legal dispute involving a consortium led by Austria’s construction group Strabag in connection with the Pedemontana motorway project in northern Italy led the client earlier this year to invoke a guarantee. The consortium sees this invocation as unjustified and on 15 March 2018 filed a request with the competent court in Milan to issue an injunction against this recourse. The request has now been denied in a written decision that was served today. The consortium will lodge an appeal against this decision and will review alternative possibilities to prevent the guarantee from being paid out.  In the event that the guarantee amount of up to about Euro 260 mn has to be paid out temporarily, the consortium believes that a claim for restitution exists that is to be capitalised in full. This claim is (also) to be asserted in the pending legal disputes related to the construction delays and the accompanying considerable cost overruns. The pay-out of the guarantee will not influence the legal position of the consortium in these pending court proceedings.
Strabag: weekly performance: -6.70%

Novomatic: Novomatic, one of the largest gaming technology groups in the world, appointed Bartholomäus Czapkiewicz to the Executive Board as Chief Systems Officer (CSO). Bartholomäus Czapkiewicz has been working at Novomatic for more than 10 years and was responsible for coordinating international development projects. As of December 1, 2018, therefore, the Novomatic AG Executive Board consists of Harald Neumann (CEO), Christian Widhalm (CIO), Ryszard Presch (COO), Thomas Graf (CTO), Peter Stein (CFO) and Bartholomäus Czapkiewicz (CSO).
