Strabag: Austrian based construction group Strabag has been awarded another contracts. In Poland Strabag is leading a consortium (92 %) with Poland’s Budimex SA for a 17 km long section of the A1 motorway. The total value of the design-and-build contract amounts to Euro 133 mn. Construction is to begin before the end of 2018, with project handover scheduled after 32 months. The contract includes the construction of a motorway section with three lanes in each direction as well as 16 bridge objects and three rest areas. “Just one month ago, we added a 16 km long section of the A1 to our order books. That order is also being performed under a design-and-build contract, which means that we can apply our know-how already in the design phase,” says Thomas Birtel, CEO of Strabag. Whereas the Hungarian subsidiary of Strfabag Group has been picked to build a new production facility for Swiss automotive supplier Rehau in Újhartyán. The 63,000 m² facility will produce exterior body parts such as bumpers and spoilers. Work will start in September and is expected to be completed after 15 months of construction. The contract value amounts to Euro 50 mn.

Porr Group: Austrian construction group Porr has been awarded for the construction of the Świnoujście tunnel. The project will be implemented by a consortium consisting of Porr, Gulermak and Energopol-Szczecin. The contract value is around Euro 15 0mn and the project is expected to take 48 months to complete. The total length of the project is approximately 3.2 km. This includes a 1.44 km TBM-excavation in the slurry shield procedure. The breakout diameter of the tunnel will be 13.5 m. A two-way roadway will be constructed with traffic lanes with a width of 3.5 m and evacuation niches will be built using ground freezing. The project will be implemented by the consortium as a Design & Build contract. "The Świnoujście tunnel is one of our key infrastructure projects in Poland. In cooperation with our Porr colleagues from Poland and Austria as well as the experienced experts from Gulermak and Energopol-Szczecin, we will demonstrate our construction expertise and innovative strength", said Karl-Heinz Strauss, CEO of Porr.
