Special Situations long/short 		Gerade erst wurde bekannt, dass sich der aktivistische Investor Starboard Value bei Starbucks für die Steigerung des Aktienkurses einsetzen will, da platzte schon die nächste Bombe: Chipotle-Chef Brian Niccol übernimmt die Führung bei der Kaffeehauskette. Der Manager löst damit nach nur etwas mehr als einem Jahr den glücklos agierenden Laxman Narasimhan ab. Diesem war es nicht gelungen, mit neuen Produkten die Verkäufe anzukurbeln. Niccol schaffte es hingegen, das Geschäft bei Chipotle auch in einer Zeit am Laufen zu halten, in der amerikanische Verbraucher bei Besuchen in Schnellrestaurants sparen. Die Starbucks-Aktie legte nach Niccols Berufung um mehr als ein Fünftel zu. Der Kurs von Chipotle sank dagegen zeitweise prozentual zweistellig. Ich meine: Beruhigung abwarten, dann zugreifen!

Contrarian value investments 		Starbucks reported terrible quarterly earnings. The stock dropped around 17% yesterday. This could look like a buying opportunity. But the response from management in the earnings call as well on CNBC from the CEO where in my opinion in no case statisfactory. An honest response like "we went to far to fast with pricing" or "we will moderate price increases to get our customers back" would be okay. But to state that they have a action plan and blame the recent drop in customer traffic to bad communication of the value that Starbucks gives their customers is just plain dumb and dishonest. The action plan according to the CEO is giving customers more freebies and more bundles through their app, that only a small portion of their customer base is using.  For me, a dishonest management without a convincing plan to navigate the current headwinds is a very red flag. Lock in the loses, if neccessary, move on and check this one as a bad investement because you placed a bet on a dishonest management team.  The borad of Starbucks needs to react as soon as possible and replace the current management team.
