Good morning! After a rough day Monday and a flat day Tuesday, US stocks were resuming their slide early Wednesday.Shortly after the market open the Dow was down about 200 points, the S&P 500 was off 23, and the Nasdaq was down about 70. In Europe, stocks were lower across the board.Crude-oil prices continued to make new lows Wednesday, with both West Texas Intermediate and Brent approaching $35 a barrel, putting US and international-benchmark prices near parity once again.Markets were also met Wednesday with some news out overnight that North Korea said it successfully tested a hydrogen bomb. Experts are skeptical of the country's ability to carry out such a test, but markets seem to have opened 2016 in an environment in which investors seem eager to worry about anything and everything.Wednesday is a busy day for US economic data, which started with a better-than-expected private-payroll report from ADP, which showed 257,000 jobs were added in December.Due up later is a reading on the services sector, durable goods orders, factory orders, and the minutes from the latest Federal Reserve meeting.
