21st Austria weekly - Porr, S Immo, Warimpex (30/05/2022)

05.06.2022

Porr: Construction group Porr has had a good start to 2022 and generated positive EBT in the first quarter for the first time. Porr achieved healthy growth in revenue and earnings. In the first quarter, the company generated revenue of Euro1,110.8m – a full 14.7% higher than in the same period of the previous year. Porr grew in almost every one of its home markets. Despite the significant price increases on the procurement market, it managed to achieve EBT of Euro 0.6 mn. “Porr performed well in a difficult environment in the first quarter”, said Porr CEO Karl-Heinz Strauss. The market situation remains exciting. “The construction industry is experiencing opposing forces: On the one hand, we welcome the full order books and growing demand for our services in every area. On the other hand, cost increases and bottlenecks on the procurement market are dampening growth in the sector. Against this backdrop, we have nevertheless been able to leverage existing opportunities, stay on track, and generate profits”, said Strauss.
Porr: weekly performance: 7.46%

S Immo: Real estate companys S Immo first quarter operating result increased significantly and gross profit rose by around 28% to Euro 29.8 mn. In conjunction with non-cash valuation effects in the financial and tax result, a significant increase in the profit for the period was achieved for the first quarter. Revenues climbed by around 33% to Euro 57.0 mn (Q1 2021: Euro 43.0 mn). This development is attributable on the one hand to the increase in rental income and revenues from operating costs, and to the rise in revenues from hotel operations on the other. Rental income saw an increase of around 12% compared with the same period last year and amounted to Euro 35.8m (Q1 2021: Euro 32.0m). Property management expenses increased to Euro 19.7m (Q1 2021: Euro 18.3 mn), in part because the number of rental properties rose. Together with the income from hotel operations, gross profit therefore totalled Euro 29.8m (Q1 2021: Euro 23.2m). This corresponds to an increase of around 28% compared with the same period in the previous year. Herwig Teufelsdorfer, CIO of S Immo AG, noted: “The geographical diversification of our portfolio has proven to be extremely resilient to crises, which is why we want to maintain it in the same constellation as in the past. At the same time, we are considering investment opportunities on the Austrian market, which has proven to be very stable of late.”

Warimpex: The business operations of real estate company Warimpex Group developed positively in the first quarter of 2022. Particularly the performance of the hotels improved following a weaker prior-year period due to the pandemic, and revenues in the office segment also increased significantly. Nevertheless, measurement losses on Russian properties and losses from changes in the foreign exchange rate for the rouble led to a loss of Euro 4.4 mn for the first quarter of 2022, compared with a loss of Euro 0.5 million in the previous year. Total revenues improved from Euro 6.1 mn to Euro 8.5 mn. "With the loosening of the COVID-19 measures starting in March 2022, it seemed as though we were leaving the crisis behind us. And this may be true with regard to the pandemic for the moment – as of now in the spring, it remains to be seen what autumn will bring. It is also impossible to say how the current geopolitical situation will develop moving forward. The armed conflict in Ukraine is not only resulting in unspeakable suffering for the people in the country, but is having an impact on the entire world and is not least leading to significant economic upheavals due to the international sanctions against Russia as well as Russia’s counterreactions. Naturally, we are monitoring the economic and legal developments in Russia very closely in order be able to react quickly to current events if necessary,” explained Franz Jurkowitsch, CEO of Warimpex.
