21st Austria weekly - Kapsch TrafficCom, Andritz (18/06/2019)

23.06.2019

KapschTrafficCom I: Kapsch TrafficCom, provider of intelligent transportation systems,  has published its final earnings for the fiscal year 2018/19. The company can look back on a very successful fiscal year 2018/19, despite a weak first half of the year. The company has increased revenues above Euro 700 mn – to be precise, up to Euro  737.8 mn (+6.4%) – for the very first time. The EBIT reached Euro 57.0 mn (+13.9%), corresponding to an EBIT margin of 7.7% (previous year: 7.2%). Tax effects (particularly with regard to input tax) in Brazil totaling Euro -2.0 mn prevented an even better result. Both segments contributed towards the growth. “We have increased revenues for the fourth year in a row, raising them above EUR 700 million for the very first time. Furthermore, we have improved EBIT, in comparison to the previous year. The numerous new projects from the fiscal year 2018/19 provide us with stability and are the basis for further growth”, says Georg Kapsch, CEO of Kapsch TrafficCom. The higher EBIT, an only slightly negative financial result and lower tax expenses, led to significantly better results for the period compared to the previous year. This amounted to Euro 46.6 million (previous year: Euro 28.0 min), which corresponds to earnings per share of Euro 3.68 (previous year: Euro 2.21). Based on the encouraging results for the fiscal year 2018/19 and the robust balance sheet, the Executive Board of Kapsch TrafficCom will propose to the Annual General Meeting that a dividend of Euro 1.50 per share (Euro 19.5 mn in total) should be distributed. In fiscal year 2019/2020 KTCG plans to increase revenues and EBIT by at least 5%.

Kapsch TrafficCom II:  In today’s judgement, the Court of Justice of the European Union found that the infrastructure use charge, in combination with the relief from motor vehicle tax in Germany, constitutes indirect discrimination on grounds of nationality and is in breach of the principles of the free movement of goods and of the freedom to provide services. On December 30, 2018, the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure as the responsible contracting authority commissioned a consortium consisting of Kapsch TrafficCom AG and CTS Eventim AG & Co. KGaA with the collection of the German infrastructure use charge (passenger vehicle toll). In a statement Kapsch TraficCom says: "We and our partner CTS Eventim have been working together since the end of last year to ensure that the infrastructure charge can begin on schedule. We have already made good progress in setting up the operating company in recent months. Today’s judgement of the Court of Justice of the European Union is currently being evaluated. Currently it is unclear whether the infrastructure use charge will be implemented by the Federal Republic of Germany in an amended form or not. In coordination with our customer and our project partner we are evaluating the implications of the judgment on our cooperation. The contracts contain protective provisions that guard against pecuniary damages for the operating company and its shareholders. This also applies in the event that the infrastructure charge is not introduced".
Kapsch TrafficCom: weekly performance: -6.40%

Andritz: International technology Group Andritz has received an order from Qinghai Zhuofeng New Material Co., Ltd., China, to supply two continuous annealing and processing lines, each with an annual capacity of 110,000 tons. Start-up is scheduled for the second quarter of 2021 (line 1) and the second quarter of 2022 (line 2), respectively.
Andritz: weekly performance: 4.73%

Austrian Inflation: In May 2019, the inflation rate was 1.7% (April 2019 1.7%), as Statistics Austria reports. Expenditures for housing, water and energy (+3.0% compared to May 2018) proved to be the most important price driver, followed by expenditures for restaurants and hotels (+2.7%). The index level of the consumer price index 2015 (CPI 2015) was 106.7 in May. Compared to the previous month, the average price level increased by 0.2%. The index level of the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP 2015) was 107.17 in May 2019, with the harmonised inflation rate amounting to +1.7%.
