03.02.2019

Statistics Austria:  A total of 66 259 enterprises in the entire industry and construction sector (+0.6% compared to the previous year) turned over Euro 243.9 bn (+7.3%) in the reporting period January to October 2018, according to calculations by Statistics Austria. Working-day adjusted, the turnover for industry and construction increased by 7.0%. These figures coupled with increasing employment (994 012 persons, +2.6%). At establishment level (66 835 establishments, +0.6%), production sold increased by 7.4% (working-day adjusted: +7.1%) in comparison to previous year's level and amounted to €241.3 bn in nominal terms (employing 992 933 persons, +2.6%). Industrial production sold increased by 7.9%. 36 334 Austrian construction establishments (+1.4%) achieved a production sold of €39.5 bn in the reporting period January to October 2018. This corresponds to an increase of 4.7% in nominal terms (working-day adjusted: +4.5%) compared to the previous year. At the end of October 2018, Austrian construction companies (not including construction auxiliary trades) had orders booked totalling about €16.6 bn (+23.2%year-over-year). Futher:  The industrial producer price index, IPPI 2015, reached 102.8 points in December 2018, representing a price increase of 1.9% compared to December 2017, as Statistics Austria reports. In November 2018 and October 2018, the annual rates of change had been +2.5% and +3.4%, respectively. The annual average in 2018 was 2.4% compared to an increase of 1.9% in 2017 and a decline of -1.8% in 2016. Thus, the year-on-year rate of the industrial producer price index increased in 2018 for a second consecutive year. The annual rate of 2.4% in 2018 was mainly caused by rising prices in the energy sector (+5.3%) and for intermediate goods (+2.4%). The prices for capital goods rose by 1.0% in 2018 and those for consumer goods went up by 0.3%.

Andritz: International technology Group Andritz started up the modernized BM3 board machine successfully in Arnsberg, Germany, for R.D.M. In this contract, Andritz was responsible for the new design of feed system for the new headbox, adapting the required dewatering capacity, and for recirculation of the white water. The components supplied by Andritz are set up for a future production speed of 1,000 m/min and enable a significant improvement in the quality of formation as well as enhancing the profile stability of the top ply to obtain better processability of the finished products. At the moment, the production speed is approximately 780 m/min and the working width is 3.63 m.
Andritz: weekly performance: 0.61%

AT&S: AT&S, European market leader and one of the globally leading manufacturers of high-end printed circuit boards and IC substrates, reported an increase in revenue and profitability in the first nine months. Accumulated revenue rose by 3.2% from Euro 765.9 mn to Euro 790.1 mn. EBITDA increased by 15.9% to Euro 220.5 mn. The increase primarily results from efficiency and productivity improvements, the absence of the start-up costs incurred in Chongqing in the previous year and a favourable product mix, the company stated. EBIT improved from Euro 88.8 mn to Euro 121.5 mn. The EBIT margin amounted to 15.4% (previous year: 11.6%). CEO Andreas Gerstenmayer commented: “After a very positive first half-year, the demand for mobile devices declined towards the end of the third quarter. Thanks to the broad product, technology and customer portfolio, we were nevertheless able to match the exceptionally high level of the previous year".
AT&S: weekly performance: -2.54%
